Hello All,
In advance of the meeting tomorrow I wanted to announce that Al Kossow
has joined the museum staff as Software Curator. Although an email will
be going out to volunteers, members, board members, etc. very soon; I
wanted you to hear this exciting news as soon as possible.

By way of background, Kossow has spent more than thirty years in the
computer industry, most recently as Senior Software Engineer at Apple
Computer (from 1986 to 2005). He has worked on research and product
development projects in the fields of interactive computer graphics,
operating systems, real-time control, and as a software liason to CPU
vendors. He also created bitsavers.org, which is one of the largest
on-line archives of historic computer hardware and software
documentation in the world.

As Software Curator, Al will be the focal point for activities and
resources related to the Museum's software collection. He is also
responsible for the development of the near-term and long term growth
and preservation of the collection.

Finally, Al's official title is "Robert M. Miner Software Curator" in
honor of Robert M. Miner, the co-founder of Oracle, in conjunction with
a recent donation of $2M to the Museum's capital campaign.

We are all very excited to have Al on board. Those of you who haven't
met Al at previous SCC meetings, will do so tomorrow in his official
capacity.

Best,

Kirsten
