The IBM 1401 Restoration team at the Computer History Museum may be able
to help you in the future depending on your time table and what you need
to move the dato to. This restoration has yet to successfully connect
their 7 track IBM 729 tape unit to the IBM 1401 and obviously reading the
data is only part of what you need to accomplish. What do your source
records look like, what media are you interested in moving the data to?
Although the Musuem's resotration team may be able to read the data at
some time, we might not be able to get it to the media that you need.
Others from that team may have more probing questions.
