See attached e-mails and

In case you do not already know this, Ralph Griswold and his wife Madge are
the principal originators of the SNOBOL language, which I much admire for
its combination of string parsing with procedural logic.

About 3 months ago, I took up work with Ralph and his associates Gregg
Townsend and Rich Cornwell to create a SNOBOL software collection within
CHM. Gregg sent me a DVD containing 65,000 files while I was on vacation in
September. I have copied its contents onto my machine, and expect to begin
looking at them soon to decide first steps towards making them available for
CHM visitors. ("Soon" here means perhaps next week, after I have completed
the "in box" exercise that is usual after a month's hiatus from work.) I'll
be depositing Gregg's disk in the museum shortly after checking that my copy
is complete and usable.

Best wishes, Henry

That is indeed sad. I believe I can safely speak for Computer History
Museum colleagues in requesting that you convey our sympathy to his family.

Best wishes, Henry

Henry,

I have sad news to report. Ralph passed away Wednesday morning.

I did a short writeup for the CS department which is at
http://www.cs.arizona.edu/news/articles/200610-griswold.html

Gregg
