Thank you for your input. The requirements for the Museum digital repository
extend beyond the requirements of the SPG. It is in fact quite likely that
the implementation WILL change in the future and the archive WILL have to
migrate, as does the data itself as the media it is stored upon becomes
technically obsolete. It is naive to assume the software on which the data
is accessed will not change.

The critical requirement is that the data entrusted there be verifiable
and invariant. THAT was the point I was trying to make in the meeting.

If you can find an existing underlying storage mechanism that provides this
the IT department (the people responsible for the physical archive) would be
interested.

I'll give you a hint.. Subversion, or any other system based on mySQL or
postgres ain't it.
