EAF: Grady has hit the nail on the head with those words.

It is an historical "opportunity" that the CHM has come to grasp only
a little
(as spelled out by Len Shustek in his message. ) Why?

1) It is difficult for a museum to display things "that have no
material manifestation")(NMM). This
requires a great deal of invention and hard work.

2) the museum itself has a history and a collecting tradition
(collection bias?) toward
the objects WITH material manifestation (MM). But as things become
commoditized and
cloud-ified, the CHM will run out of interesting MMs to collect and
will have to focus on the NMMs
of the information revolution.

My counsel is patience, coupled with an effort to to help the museum
solve (1) above.

Best wishes,
