By the way, in our final report on Preserving Virtual Worlds I, here:

we reached pretty much the same conclusion with regard to DMCA + Bono
and its impact on some activities involving imaging of original media.
A huge problem is the exemption process, which requires renewal every
three years -- some of the work we did during the project would be
illegal today.
And in related news, PVW II has been funded by IMLS, so the project will
continue through 2012.
