Paul,

Nice work!  Len, as you probably know, is a member of the ACM History
Committee, and Mark has been very helpful to the Museum on a number of
things.  I'm very glad to see this, since it's a good precedent.

Did you original email/letter request permission on behalf of the Museum
or you only as an individual?  Mark's letter seemed ambiguous on
that...just trying to keep our paper trail clean.

Yesterday I received the attached email from Mark Mandelbaum (Director 
of ACM's Office of Publications) giving ACM's permission to post 
full-text copies of several ACM-copyrighted papers to the SCC FORTRAN 
web site. I'm very grateful for this. I first made the request last May,

via Rick Snodgrass, who co-chairs ACM's History Committee. This was 
perhaps not the most direct approach, but it seems to have worked. Rick 
is very pleased to see ACM and CHM collaborating.
