[SCC_Active_Members] Request consulting help for a Linux newbie

As a base for creating a SNOBOL library pilot accessible to contributors, I
have decided to use the Greenstone DL
(http://www.greenstone.org/cgi-bin/library) running in an Ubuntu Linux
platform.

A challenge with this is that I am a Linux newbie, and am having
difficulties with many critical functions, e.g., installing programs as
specified in their documentation and the textbook (Keir Thomas, Beginning
Ubuntu Linux, 2006. ISBN 1-59059-627-7). (For instance, a current problem
is consistent "command not found" in shell windows that I believe are set to
the correct directory, etc.)

I would appreciate a CHM volunteer to help me with the learning curve, doing
so via e-mail. I propose to send screenshots and problem descriptions.
With luck, this will be a short-term exercise.

Please identify yourself if you are able & willing to help with this.

Cheerio, Henry
