Subject: Call for Tentative Participants: US TAG to Proposed New JTC 1
Working Group on Digital Preservation Interoperability
Date: Fri, 7 Oct 2011 08:30:14 -0700

For the past several years, ISO/IEC JTC 1 has been evaluating needs and
opportunities in the area of digital data preservation in the Study
Group on Digital Content Management and Protection (DCMP). At the
upcoming ISO/IEC JTC 1 Plenary meeting, the Study Group is expected to
recommend that a Working Group be formed to begin work on developing
standards for digital data preservation interoperability.

INCITS is seeking interested parties to participate in the US TAG to a
Working Group. Please contact the INCITS secretariat (you may reply to
this email) for more information or if your organization is tentatively
interested.

The Working Group on digital preservation interoperability is proposed
to identify and explore issues of digital data preservation planning,
policies and issues regarding metadata, representing information,
packaging and data models.

Proposed terms of reference for the Working Group on Digital
Preservation Interoperability are as follows:

1) To develop and harmonize digital preservation vocabulary standard
specifications from authoritative sources.

2) To develop a standard on digital preservation interoperability
framework to enable the interoperability between preservation systems
and within a preservation system.

3) To establish the liaison with other standards groups specifically
including:

- ISO TC46/SC 11

- ISO TC 171

- ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27

- ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29

- ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32

- ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 36

and other relevant standard organizations.

Best regards -
